  • Worked for the Smithsonian Institution and was active with the Colombian Exposition in Chicago in 1889. In 1901, he worked as an entomologist with the Bureau of Entomology, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and specialized in odonates. He was ordained as an Episcopal priest, and became bishop of Washington; Member, Washington Biologists' Field Club, 1901-1930.
