On 6 June 2017, Pamela M. Henson, historian with the Institutional History Program of Smithsonian Institution Archives, recorded an interview with Eva Joy Pell, Undersecretary for Science at the Smithsonian Institution from 2010 to 2014. The interview discussed her background, education, decision to pursue a career in science, her years as a professor of botany and administrator at Pennsylvania State University, and her tenure at the Smithsonian.
