Paulus Edward Pieris Deraniyagala (1900-1976), paleontologist and zoologist. This photograph was probably taken when he was in the United States, studying at Harvard College, after taking his first degree from Trinity College, Cambridge, England. He later became director of the National Museum of Ceylon.
