Summary

left to right: Dr. T. Mathai Jacob and Dr. Har Gobind Khorana (1922-2011) in their laboratory at the Institute for Enzyme Research, University of Wisconsin in Madison. The team led by Dr. Khorana had just accomplished the first synthesis of small pieces of DNA. Dr. Khorana was later a co-recipient of the 1968 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for this work.
