Summary

Caption from Torch: "Gambian koru players gave a free public concert in Carmichael Auditorium last month during one stop of a national tour planned to stimulate interest in their country. Members of the delegation included musician griots performing on the koru, hallam, and balafon. Their Washington visit, coordinated by Rosie Hooks of the Smithsonian's African Diaspora program, took them to the Duke Ellington High School for the Performing Arts, the Museum of African Art, the Embassy of Senegal, and the Smithsonian."
