This accession consists of records maintained by Ellen Roney Hughes, who served on the steering committee of the Smithsonian Forum on Material Culture. The records document the Tenth Yale-Smithsonian Seminar on Material Culture and the essays on material aspects of sports presented at the event, which took place at the National Museum of American History. Some of the essays were used in a post-seminar publication, "The Material Culture of Sport," edited by Hughes. Materials include correspondence, a program guide, participant lists, cassette recordings of the seminar, and essays. Some materials are in electronic format.
