This accession consists of correspondence created or maintained by Robert Hershler, Associate Curator, Curator, and Research Zoologist, 1985-2018, and Chairman of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, 2003-2004, in the Division of Mollusks at the National Museum of Natural History. Hershler specialized in gastropods with focus on snails. Topics covered include data exchanges, specimen identification, publications, expeditions, research, and projects. Some materials are dated before 1965, when the Department of Zoology was divided into vertebrate and invertebrate branches.
