Summary

Dr. Terry Erwin, associate curator of Coleoptera in the Department of Entomology at the National Museum of Natural History, looks for ground beetles on Barro Colorado Island, Panama, while conducting a systematic study of the ground beetle fauna of Central America. The project covers more than 2,000 species, approximately 40 per cent of which are currently undescribed in scientific literature.
