Summary

Harrison Estell Howe (1881-1943), chemist and Editor of the American Chemical Society journal "Industrial and Engineering Chemistry" from 1921 to 1943. While Howe was chairman of the Division of Research Extension of the National Research Council, he helped to raise funds to build and furnish the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
