Summary

Herbert Clark Hoover (1874-1964) and Lou Henry Hoover (1874-1944) arrive at Stanford Bowl, Palo Alto, California, August 11, 1928, for the ceremony at which Hoover formally accepted the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Science Service distributed this photograph to its clients after 1929 with the caption: "The crowd cheering Hoover during his first presidential campaign. Did they vote for him for President because they considered him a good engineer?"
