Left to right: Herman Ertresvaag Hilleboe (1906-1974), New York State Commissioner of Health, and Horton Corwin Hinshaw (1902-2000), Mayo Clinic. Hillebroe was a key figure in coordinating state tuberculosis control programs when he was at the U.S. Public Health Service. Hinshaw was a lung specialist who pioneered the use of streptomycin to treat tuberculosis.
