left to right: Charlotte Louise Juliette Grimaldi (1898-1977), Duchess of Valentinois, the daughter of Louis Grimaldi, Prince of Monaco; Alexandre Millerand (1859-1943), president of the French Republic from 1920 to 1924; and Albert I (1848-1922), Prince of Monaco and Duke of Valentinois. They are standing at the entrance of the l'Institut oc©♭anographique in Paris, which had been established by Albert. The year after this photograph was taken by Albert Harlingue (1879-1963), and after Albert's death, Louis ascended to the throne as Louis II, Prince of Monaco, and Charlotte became the Hereditary Princess of Monaco, heir presumptive to the throne.
