Summary

At the beginning of World War II, Robert Ward Hayler (1891-1980) was Officer-in-Charge of the newly reopened Shop 70, the Naval Gun Factory, in Alexandria, Virginia. By 1942, Hayler was in command of a U.S. Navy cruiser and participating in military battles in the Pacific.
