Summary: | This accession consists of performance recordings of orchestras, music artist concerts, and dance programs sponsored or organized by the National Museum of American History, Department of Public Programs; and, prior to 1983, the Division of Performing Arts. The performances were offered at the Smithsonian Institution and intended to enlighten the visiting public of America's diverse musical and entertainment heritage. A majority of the recordings are performance series of American popular song, jazz, chamber music, American musical theater, and country music. Materials include audiotapes and videotapes. |
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of performance recordings of orchestras, music artist concerts, and dance programs sponsored or organized by the National Museum of American History, Department of Public Programs; and, prior to 1983, the Division of Performing Arts. The performances were offered at the Smithsonian Institution and intended to enlighten the visiting public of America's diverse musical and entertainment heritage. A majority of the recordings are performance series of American popular song, jazz, chamber music, American musical theater, and country music. Materials include audiotapes and videotapes.
