This accession consists of photomicrographs of and research data related to lunar samples collected from the Apollo 11 mission. These materials were maintained by Dr. William G. Melson, Associate Curator in Charge of the Division of Petrology in the National Museum of Natural History's Department of Mineral Sciences. Melson utilized these materials in the creation of the book "The Lunar Rocks," which he co-authored with Dr. Brian Harold Mason.
