Notes

The Northern Alaska Exploring Expedition was a naval exploration of the Kobuk River, also known as the Putnam River, and northern parts of Alaska from April 13, 1884-November 9, 1886. The expedition was led by Lieutenant George M. Stoney of the U.S. Navy. In addition to exploring the area, Lieutenant Stoney also collected specimens for the United States National Museum.
