left to right: Dr. Tsuno-chi Yu, M.D., Chinese Consul General, presents a citation from the Territory of Alaska to Mutual Broadcasting System war correspondent Royal Arch Gunnison (d. 1946), September 19, 1944. The citation praised Gunnison, who had been imprisoned after the Japanese invasion of Manila, "for continuously exposing in his writing and broadcasting, even before Pearl Harbor, the warlike aims and preparations of the Japanese, for constantly, since his return from two years' internment by the Japanese keeping before the American people the true nature of the Japanese threat to durable peace."
