Konecci (1925-1992), Director of Biotechnology and Human Research, Office of Advanced Research and Technology, NASA, presents a book to Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (1934-1968), the first man to travel into space. The author of the book, Lawrence J. Fogel (1928-2007), senior staff scientist, Astronautics Division, General Dynamics Company, is seated at left. The photograph was taken between 1962 and 1964.
