Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records that document the National Museum of American History's "Annual (Usually) Conference on Stuff." The conference, typically taking place on or near April Fool's Day, was framed around a particular food or food item and included humorous papers and lectures, a cooking competition, art competition and demonstrations. Food featured at conferences included Jell-O, peanut butter, marshmallows, crackers, pie, corn, beans, grease, and salt. Participants came from within the museum, but also included staff from other Smithsonian offices and museums. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, meeting agendas and minutes, programs, schedules, papers, poems, publicity records, brochures, clippings, images, sound recordings, posters, and other related materials.
