Young male (900lbs.) and female (1800lbs.) Nile hippopotamuses in their enclosure (located next to the Lion House) at the National Zoological Park.

Possibly "Bongo" and "Mom." Bongo, the male, was obtained from Kilwa, German East Africa on April 7, 1914 and died December 4, 1959. #8766. Mom, the female was obtained from Mombasa, British East Africa on May 19, 1911 and died February 4, 1930. #8008.
