This accession consists of files relating to various historical research projects conducted by National Zoological Park staff. The bulk of the materials were created or compiled by Sybil (Billie) E. Hamlet, Public Information Officer. Other materials were created or compiled within the Office of Graphics and Exhibits or the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Architectural History and Historic Preservation. Materials include both source material, dating to approximately 1890, such as maps and floor plans, and documentation of the research, much of which occurred in the early 1990s, including notes, chronologies, narratives, memoranda, and related materials.
