This accession consists of approximately 14,747 email messages of William H. Truettner, curator of painting and sculpture. Truettner's research interests included 18th- and 19th-century American painting, George Catlin and art of the American West. Topics documented in this collection include exhibition planning, research, and design; collection acquisitions; and conservation. Some email messages date from when the museum was known at the National Museum of American Art. This accession does not include email from the period when Truettner was Curator Emeritus.
