Soderstrom, associate curator in the Department of Botany at National Museum of Natural History, prepares equipment for air shipment or hand carrying for a plant collecting expedition in Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, including a microscope, binoculars, bags of plastic specimen vials, an altimeter, hundreds of seed envelopes, a Nikon camera, a knapsack, and a plant press.
