This accession consists of the "Ocean Portal" website and an associated Tumblr blog as they existed on May 1, 2015. The "Ocean Portal" website is a unique, interactive online experience that inspires awareness, understanding, and stewardship of the world's oceans. Content includes topical information, lesson plans, stories, and images. It also serves as a portal to ocean-related content from other organizations. In addition, a blog, launched in October 2009, is embedded in the website. Due to technical issues, many of the multimedia features do no function properly. The "Ocean Portal" Tumblr blog features news and images related to the ocean and its sciences. It was launched in June 2013. Materials are in electronic format.
