This accession consists of the poetry of Paul Hertelendy, Smithsonian National Board member, 1996-2002. Hertelendy became known for his Smithsonian Institution-inspired poetry that he frequently presented to the Board and, in 1998, was named Poet Laureate by the Board's Chair. This collection, titled "Smithsonian Reflections or, Tracking Past and Future in the Smithsonian Institution's America," was compiled by Hertelendy in 2014 and includes all of his Smithsonian poetry to date. The collection includes two volumes - Book 1, "Recent Poems From the Millennium and Beyond," and Book 2, "Earlier Poems from the Millennium and Beyond."
