This accession consists of the "#Innoskate" Tumblr blog maintained by the Lemelson Center as it existed on November 20, 2014. In January 2011, the National Museum of American History and the Lemelson Center launched a broad collecting initiative focusing on skateboarding and skate culture. As part of that effort, the Lemelson Center, in collaboration with the International Association of Skateboard Companies, created Innoskate in 2013 - a major public festival celebrating skate culture as an extension and complement to the celebration of the 10th anniversary of global Go Skateboarding Day. The Innoskate program demonstrates how creativity and innovation abound in unexpected or overlooked aspects of daily life. The Tumblr blog, launched in May 2013, highlights events associated with the Innoskate program as well as new innovations in skateboarding. Materials are in electronic format.
