Summary

Framework for the USNM's Diplodocus specimen (USNM 10865) under construction in the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory. Mounting work began in 1927 with the creation of a temporary supporting framework. Delays in obtaining the permanent iron supports, steel castings, and certain of the bones for the display caused work to be somewhat sporadic until 1930. The specimen was finally installed in the main vertebrate paleontology hall in 1931.
