Columbian Institute, August 11 1825. Sir, I am instructed by the Columbian Institute to inform you, that, in consequence of your having omitted for more than a year to attend [[insertion]] ^ its [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] meetings [[strikethrough]] of the Institute [[/strikethrough]] or to pay the amount of your annual dues [[insertion]] [[strikethrough]] ^ to it [[/strikethrough]], to the Society [[/insertion]] your membership in that Body has become liable to forfeiture; but, that [[strikethrough]] it is with [[/strikethrough]] the Institute is willing to [[strikethrough]] exempt [[/strikethrough]] relieve you from that penalty, provided you attend at the next meeting [[strikethrough]] of the Institute [[/strikethrough]] (which will be [[insertion]] ^ held [[/insertion]] on the first Saturday in September) and [[strikethrough]] [[insertion]] ^ that [[/insertion]] [[/strikethrough]] then, or at some time previous, [[insertion]] ^ [[strikethrough]] you [[/strikethrough]] [[/insertion]] pay the amount now due by you, being, according to the enclosed account from the Treasurer, $ I am Sir, Your obedient Serv[[superscript]] t [[/superscript]]. &c Dr. John A. Brereton - $ 20 - Oberton Carr Esqr - $35.- Edmond Law, Esqr - $40.- Benjamin L. Lear, Esqr - $40.- George W. May, Esqr - $35 George E. Ironside, Esqr - $10 - C.I. Sept. 27. 1825 Sir, Referring to my letter of the 11 inst.
