Washington December 19. 1825 Sir. I have received your communication of the 10[[superscript]] th [[/superscript]] of this month informing me that "the Columbian Institute for the promotion of Arts and Sciences" have been pleased to elect me a resident member of their body. I beg through you to express my sense of this obliging mark of favor on the Asbury Dickens Esquire, Secretary of the Institute.
