Sir,
I received a few minutes since, your letter of the 21[[superscript]]st[[/superscript]] instant, informing me, that I have been elected a resident member of "the Columbian Institute for the promotion of arts and sciences", and inclosing a copy of the constitutional ordinance for the government of that Institute.
You will please to accept my acknowledgments for the polite manner in which the communication has been made - your apology for the delay in transmitting it, being perfectly justifiable, is admitted as one of the best that could be offered.
With sincere wishes for a speedy recovery from the severe indisposition, you have stated,
I have the honor to be,
with great respect,
Your obedient servant,
William Lambert
Asbury Dickins, Esquire,
Secretary of the
Columbian Institute.
