Summary

This collection contains one field book and one folder from the United States Exploring Expedition (Wilkes Expedition), originally maintained by the Division of Birds. The material ranges from 1838-1842, and localities may include but may not be limited to the United States, Australia, Antarctica, the Philippines, Brazil, and Chile. Items consist mostly of bird specimen lists and species lists collected by Titian Ramsay Peale and R. J. Pollard, with such information as dates, localities, sex information, and United States National Museum (USNM) numbers. There are also other bird lists, invoices of specimens, and correspondence.
