The Collections Information Management Committee (CIMC) serves as an advisory body which advocates for collections information and the systems that manage and deliver it within the Smithsonian and to the public. The CIMC serves as a liaison between collections-based information system managers (collecting units) and Smithsonian Institution management. As part of this effort the CIMC runs the Collections Information Systems Information Resouces Management (CIS IRM) Pool Fund which serves to fund projects related to the acquisition, development, and accessibility of collections information and their systems. This accession consists of records which document the CIMC's role in the awarding of these funds through the preparation of guidelines, the issuing of calls for proposals, review of the submitted proposals, and by making funding recommendations to the Chief Information Officer whose office manages the fund. Some materials date from when the CIMC was known as the Collections Information Systems Management Committee. Materials include award summaries, calls for applications, application guidelines, agendas, meeting minutes, recommendations, reports, and other related materials. Some materials are in electronic format.
