This accession consists of minutes and materials from the board of trustees meetings at the National Museum of African Art. The board began in 1979 as the Commission of the Museum of African Art when the Smithsonian Institution first acquired the museum. With the name change of the museum in 1981, the group became the Commission of the National Museum of African Art. By 2002, the name was officially changed to the National Museum of African Art Board. There is also a considerable amount of material from the National Museum of African Art Collections Committee. Materials include meeting minutes and agenda; correspondence and memoranda; acquisition and deaccession information; commission member information; brochures; and budgets. Some materials are in electronic format.

Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of minutes and materials from the board of trustees meetings at the National Museum of African Art.
