This collection contains five field books on birds collected by Edward William Nelson, originally maintained by the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Birds. Nelson's field notes were recorded between 1869 and 1886 and document birds collected in Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Illinois, California, and Indiana.
