This collection contains 24 field catalogs from the Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey (PMS), 1966-1971. This survey studied migratory birds, their ectoparasites and the viruses they carry. The primary PMS operation site was in northern Egypt, however, surveys were also conducted in Cyprus and Israel. The PMS involved scientists of the Smithsonian Institution, the United States Naval Medical Research Unit, and Yale University, and was funded by the Army Research Office. The catalogs record collections from 1966-1973. Each notebook contains hundreds of data sheets recording various types of information including age, sex, preparation, name, locality, date, collector, number, weight, fat, preparator, iris, bill, feet, skull, reproductive anatomy, breeding data, molt, measurements, ecological notes, stomach contents, parasites, blood, related specimens, and remarks.
