Summary

This collection contains 11 folders of notes on birds collected by Roderick Ross MacFarlane, originally maintained by the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Birds. MacFarlane collected birds in the Northwest Territories, Canada, with Robert Kennicott. Notes within this collection record details on specimens collected from 1861 to 1866. Also included is correspondence to Spencer Fullerton Baird and others. MacFarlane's unpublished manuscript of arctic birds he collected in Canada is also included. MacFarlane's packing lists are not cataloged here.
