Summary

This collection contains field notes created by Charles Overton Handley, originally maintained by the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Birds. Three field books created 1948-1950, and 1952 contain notes on birds collected in Canada, Greenland, and Bechuanaland [currently Botswana] (although localities are in modern day Namibia). The 1952 field notes in Bechaunaland were a result of the Handley's participation in the Peabody-Harvard Expedition. Journal entries tend to be detailed and extensive, sharing personal and professional observations and details.
