Finding Aids to Official Records of the Smithsonian Institution Archives
Accession 12-529
Smithsonian Institution. Office of the Under Secretary for Science
Project Files, 2002-2007
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records documenting the SIguide and the assets that were used in its design and creation. The SIguide project was intended to deliver museum content and information through wireless, handheld mobile devices to Smithsonian visitors at five museums: the National Postal Museum; the Smithsonian Institution Building; the National Museum of American History; the National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center; and the National Museum of Natural History. In 2006 the devices were tested both on Smithsonian staff and the public, but the project did not find a place at the Smithsonian and was ultimately not put into use. My Le Ducharme was the project manager for the SIguide project. Materials include asset inventories, user surveys, staff surveys, meeting minutes, videotapes, audiotapes, images, video recordings, and audio recordings. Some materials are in electronic format.
