This accession consists of seven websites maintained by the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS) as they existed in June 2011. The main Smithsonian Education website, crawled June 28, 2011, provides lesson plans, field trip orientation videos, and general recommendations about conducting a successful field trip. It also serves as a portal for educational resources and conference information available on other Smithsonian Institution websites. The main Smithsonian Museum Studies website, crawled June 27, 2011, serves as a portal for Smithsonian and non-Smithsonian museum studies workshops and resources. It also includes a calendar of events for and audio recordings of SCEMS lectures and workshops. The "Smithsonian Source: Resources for Teaching American History" website, crawled June 27, 2011, provides lesson plans and primary sources related to a variety of topics in American history. Some topics also include video of exhibitions or sample lessons. The Smithsonian Kids website, crawled June 27, 2011, provides information on selected topics specifically of interest to children from across the Smithsonian Institution. The "Smithsonian Education Online Conference Series" website, crawled June 27, 2011, provides access to online conferences organized by education offices throughout the Smithsonian Institution. Each conference generally includes a description and information on presenters. Some also include audio recordings and additional resources.
