Summary

This collection is comprised of twelve field books created by W. Andrew Archer in his plant and fungi collecting efforts from 1930-1957. Localities are primarily in South and Central America with additional localities in the southwestern United States, the West Indies, Puerto Rico, and Ethiopia. Data includes information on the exploration for tobacco varieties in Mexico and Central America for the United States Department of Agriculture, Division of Plant Exploration; research on fungi and diseases affecting plants in Venezuela; research on various crops in Ethiopia; data regarding Arachis (peanuts) in Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina; research in regards to the "Indian Drug Plant Project" in New Mexico and Nevada; and many additional botanical research subjects. Materials also include photographs, maps, and sketches.
