Summary

Alice Elizabeth Beeman Winn-Smith (b. 1894) was the author of Thrifty Cooking for Wartime (Macmillan, 1942). To support herself and her son, Winn-Smith had taken jobs that ranged from millinery and wedding trousseau design, department store saleswoman, and interior decorator. She was special lecturer on Interior Decoration, Table Setting, Flower Arrangement, and Home Management for the annual Housemothers' Conference at Oregon State University.
