Summary

Mary Amelia St. Clair Sinclair (1863-1946) often wrote under name "May Sinclair." The caption to this photo said that "In her interesting novel Mary Oliver [May Sinclair] mistook the handing down of harmful attitudes and prejudices through teachings for the actual physical inheritance of traits. We do not inherit prejudices, the geneticist tells us, we are taught them.
