This accession consists of the main website of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) as it existed on June 20, 2011. The website provides information on hosting and supporting traveling exhibitions developed by the Smithsonian Institution. It also includes press releases, educational resources, the annual "Siteline" newsletter, the biannual "Update" catalog, general information about SITES, and, for each exhibition, a description, specifications, travel schedule, and related promotional materials, publications, and other resources. Also included in this accession are two blogs maintained by SITES, both crawled July 6, 2011. The SITES blog discusses the theme and contents of its traveling exhibitions. The "Road Reports Across America" blog highlights programs at museums participating in SITES' Museums on Main Street program which brings Smithsonian Institution exhibitions to rural communities. Materials are in electronic format.
