Summary

Ethel R. Kovach Scott (1918?-2004), fourth chief nurse of the U.S. Air Force, helped write the first flight nurse manual and establish the aerospace nursing course to support of preflight and post-flight medical programs. She entered military service in 1942, helped to pioneer techniques of air evacuation of wounded solders in the South Pacific during World War II, and was appointed chief of the Air Force Nurse Corps in June 1963.
