Summary

Kirsopp Lake (1872-1946), Silva Tipple New (b. 1898), and Robert Pierce Casey (1897-1959), co-leaders of a 1938 Brown University-University of Pennsylvania joint expedition to excavate the site of the ancient city of Van in Asia Minor. Kirsopp Lake was a noted British biblical scholar who lost his appointment at Harvard as a result of the scandal following his divorce and remarriage to Silva Tipple New. Robert Pierce Casey was chairman of the Department of Biblical Literature at Brown University.
