Australian-born anatomist and paleoanthropologist Raymond Arthur Dart (1893-1988), a professor and dean at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, 1925-1943, was best known for his 1924 discovery of fossil remains of Australopithecus africanus.
