Winner of the 1931 Robert Woolston Hunt Prize awarded by the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, Edmund Sharington Davenport (b. 1897) worked at U.S. Steel, where his research focused on cast iron, tungsten, thorium, and austenite.
