Air Force Major General (ret.) Kenneth Perry McNaughton (1903-1974) (at left) is shown presenting the Thurlow Navigation Award to Victor E. Carbonara (1876-1975), President of Kollsman Instrument Corp. Carbonara, a pioneer in navigation engineering, invented the compact bubble sextant.
