This accession consists of records which document the proceedings and various activities of the Board of Regents during the tenures of S. Dillon Ripley, Robert McCormick Adams, Ira Michael Heyman, and Lawrence M. Small as Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, and when James M. Hobbins served as Executive Assistant to the Secretary. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes pertaining to executive compensation, donations and gifts, facilities, nominating committees, admission fees study, and policies; meeting minutes; news releases; reports; special events information; board member biographies and photographs; and articles.
