This accession consists of records documenting the activities of the Registrar's Office in their work on Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the Renwick Gallery exhibitions. Also included are records documenting their work on the deinstallation and installation of artwork for building renovations. Some records in this accession come from a period of time when this office was known as the National Museum of American Art, Office of the Registrar. Exhibitions covered include William H. Johnson. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, checklists, condition reports, insurance information, object lists, shipping and budget information, black-and-white photographs, color photographs, color slides, color negatives, lender files, publicity materials, prospectuses, floor plans, facility reports, brochures, and news releases. Some materials are in electronic format.
